What is a Direct Support Professional?
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the very reason we’re able to inspire life journeys! They are the foundation of the services we provide, helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their very best lives.
By working with each person’s unique strengths, DSPs give physical, educational, and emotional support wherever it’s needed, helping individuals with disabilities find success at work, at home, and within their chosen communities.

Why do DSPs Need Recognition?
DSPs make possible everyday things like:
- Dressing, eating, and personal care
- Getting to work, school, doctor’s appointments, and visiting friends and family
- Cooking, cleaning, and laundry
- Taking medication and managing health-related conditions
But, DSPs are so much more than their job descriptions – for many, DSPs are like family. They are there whenever it’s needed most – at night, on weekends and holidays, and even during weather emergencies – their care never stops.

Each year during National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, we host a fun-filled celebration in honor of our incredible DSPs.
DSPs and their families at this year’s celebration will enjoy:
