7.12 Carbon Monoxide Emergency Response – Derrer Road

A carbon Monoxide detector is installed in the home. The detector will have three alarms that may sound:

  • Low Battery Warning:
    • The detector’s alarm “chirps” once a minute.  If this happens, call the maintenance on-call.  If you do not receive a callback, contact the Incident Hotline.
  • Early Warning:
    • The detector’s alarm sounds for 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes.  If this happens, call the maintenance on-call.  If you do not receive a callback, contact the Incident Hotline.
  • Full Alarm:
    • The detector’s alarm sounds one long continuous alarm.  You will need to do the following:
      • Evacuate to the back Parking Lot
      • Call the maintenance department and the Incident Hotline.
      • Take a head count to ensure that all individuals/staff have evacuated.
      • Follow instructions of the Incident Hotline and maintenance.
      • Wait until the maintenance department/designee gives the “all clear” before returning to the home.
