7.12.12 Johnstown – Carbon Monoxide Emergency Response
Carbon Monoxide detector is installed in the laundry room. The detector will have three alarms that may sound:
- Low Battery Warning:
The detector’s alarm “chirps” once a minute. If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00am-5:00pm). (After hours call the maintenance department on-call. If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Incident Reporting Staff on-call)
- Early Warning:
The detector’s alarm sounds for 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes. If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00am-5:00pm). (After hours call the maintenance department on-call. If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Incident Reporting Staff on-call)
- Full Alarm:
The detector’s alarm sounds one long continuous alarm. You will need to do the following:
- Evacuate to CAC
- Call the maintenance department and the Incident Reporting Staff on-call.
- Take a head count to ensure that all individuals have evacuated.
- Wait until the maintenance department/designee gives the “all clear” before returning to the apartment.
