7.12.12 Johnstown – Carbon Monoxide Emergency Response

A carbon monoxide detector is installed in the laundry room.  The detector will have three alarms that may sound:

  • Low Battery Warning:
    • The detector’s alarm “chirps” once a minute.  If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.).  After hours call the maintenance department on-call.  If you do not receive a callback, contact the Incident Hotline.
  • Early Warning:
    • The detector’s alarm sounds for 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes.  If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.).  After hours call the maintenance department on-call.  If you do not receive a callback, contact the Incident Hotline.
  • Full Alarm:
    • The detector’s alarm sounds one long continuous alarm.  You will need to do the following:
      • Evacuate to CAC
      • Call the maintenance department and the Incident Hotline.
      • Take a head count to ensure that all individuals and staff have evacuated.
      • Wait until the maintenance department/designee gives the “all clear” before returning to the home.
