7.12.04 Open Door – Carbon Monoxide Emergency Response

A Carbon Monoxide detector is installed in the Studio.  It has three alarms that may sound:

  • Low Battery Warning:

The detector’s alarm “chirps” once a minute.  If this happens, call the maintenance department.  If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Executive Director.

  • Early Warning:

The detector’s alarm sounds for 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes.  If this happens, call the maintenance department.  If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Executive Director)

  • Full Alarm:

The detector’s alarm sounds one long continuous alarm.  You will need to do the following:

  • Evacuate the building.
    • Call the maintenance department and the Executive Director.  If necessary the maintenance department will call the local fire department.
    • Take a head count to ensure that all Individuals and staff have evacuated.
    • Wait until the maintenance department and/or fire department gives the “all clear” before returning back into the building.
