7.12.01 Park West – Carbon Monoxide Emergency Response

Carbon Monoxide detectors are installed in each apartment’s hallway.  They have three alarms that may sound:

  • Low Battery Warning:

The detector’s alarm “chirps” once a minute.  If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00am-5:00pm).  (After hours call the maintenance department on-call.  If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Incident Reporting Staff on-call)

  • Early Warning:

The detector’s alarm sounds for 3-5 seconds every 5 minutes.  If this happens, call the maintenance department during working hours (7:00am-5:00pm).  (After hours call the maintenance department on-call.  If you do not receive a call-back, contact the Incident Reporting Staff on-call)

  • Full Alarm:

The detector’s alarm sounds one long continuous alarm.  You will need to do the following:

  1. Evacuate the apartment:
  2. Apartments A (1-3) evacuate to B-2.
  3. Apartments B (1-3) evacuate to A-3.
  4. Apartments C (2-3) evacuate to B-3
  • Call the maintenance department and the Incident Reporting Staff on-call.
    • Take a head count to ensure that all individuals have evacuated.
    • Wait until the maintenance department/designee gives the “all clear” before returning to the apartment.
