6.08 – Clean Glove Technique


Clean (non-sterile) gloves are worn to protect the employee from potential contamination by the individual or his/her environment.


Clean (non-sterile) disposable gloves.


  1. Wash hands
  2. Put gloves on.  Use only once.
  3. Remove gloves by peeling from hands so that upon removal the glove has been turned inside out
  4. Discard in plastic lined trash container
  5. Change gloves after contact with any body secretion or excretion, i.e., saliva, urine, feces, emesis, blood, etc., of an individual
  6. Wash hands
  7. If gown also is worn, apply glove after gown is on, covering cuff of gown with gloves.
