4.22 ICF – Individual Clothing/Personal Property
Open Door is responsible to assist the individuals with monitoring their personal property including clothing, furniture, and any other items owned by the individual. All individuals are encouraged to purchase items based on their own choices, preferences, and interests.
Open Door staff will complete a personal property and clothing inventory for each individual served, which is to be completed upon intake, twice a year thereafter, for items with a value over $50, and upon the individual’s discharge. Inventories will include pictures of their items which will be kept in an electronic file.
All Open Door staff must ensure that any issues related to individuals alleged missing or broken personal property are reported immediately per the following protocol:
- First, staff should assist with looking for the allegedly missing property to ensure it wasn’t placed somewhere else within the location.
- If it is not found, the Incident Hotline should be called immediately.
- Then, an incident report should be written detailing any information that is available regarding the personal property that is missing or broken.
- Inventories are to be updated accordingly to reflect additions and/or deletion of items.
Open Door will reimburse for any incidents resulting from staff negligence or substantiated theft.
