Conducting Bed Checks
In order to ensure proper supervision, the following procedure must be followed by the Direct Support Professional (DSP) every evening:
- Each hour the DSP will enter the individuals’ room to observe if they are sleeping, awake, disturbed, or if there is an unusual incident.
- If individuals are easily disturbed, it is recommended that the DSP enter through the bathroom area.
- Based on the individuals’ medical or behavioral condition, bed checks may be required to be completed more frequently as outlined in the Person Centered Plan (PCP).
